What Is the relationships between social media and athletes?

How can you use social media to help you brand yourself as an athlete in a way that can help you in your sports career?

In project 3 I will explain ways to raise awareness about the consequences you have when you use social media networks. I would like to encourage more D1 athletes to use social media responsible, because I know they’re on the highest level of college sports and have so much to lose. I will help athletes understand that, you can use social media to make more money while playing professional sports.

My specific audience will be D1 athletes on college a campus. A lot of D1 athletes come to college on a full scholarship to play sports. The most conmen interest D1 athletes share is the way they carry themselves around the campus, because by knowing you’re being watched 247 anything you do will have a consequences. D1 athletes come in different classes, religion and race. D1 athletes are in the age of 18 to 23 and could be male or female.

My genre will be a YouTube parody video about the way athletes use social media in a positive way. My video will be making fun of people using social media networks in a good way. But I want my audience to take my video very serious even though It my make them laugh.

My YouTube video will use different modes such as:
·      Images
·      Acting/movement
·      Talking
·      Music
·      Written words
·      Camera work

  YouTube videos have
·      Title
·      Opening scene
·      Shorter then a movie
·      Most YouTube videos are in HD
·      Simple and easy to understand
·      Has a place to comment on videos

My model text is a video called ‘’ Mean tweets’’ it’s a video of athletes reading mean tweets about themselves. It’s a parody because its making fun of the people that’s writing about them.

  1. Stan, this sounds like a really good and fun idea! Do you feel like you have the resources and knowledge to make such a video (I mean, it seems like you're pretty tack savvy, but just want to be sure you're not biting off more than you can chew).

In terms of a model text, though, how will you do something simillar to the mean tweets video but to to make your argument about athletes using social media to their advantage. I really encourage you to find a video/model text that is not on the same subject as your project. When you pick something that is about the same topic it just makes it hard to think of anything new yourself and people tend to get confused about how they're using the video. See if you can find a video that you think is geared toward a similar audience and doing something similar to what you imagine (a parody) and use that as your model text.
